The Gospel Calls us to Life Above Labels There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? (Luke 13:1-2). 3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”(Luke 13:3). 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:4-5). “4 “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:4-7) “And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, 9 but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.’(Luke 12:8-9) “16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:16-21). “32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32). 40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Luke 12:40). We Don't Know When This Life Will Come to an End Jesus Wants us to Acknowledge the Inevitability of Our Death Because He Wants Us To Consider What Awaits Us Upon Our Death. “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,”(Hebrews 9:27). Repentance is the Fruit of Faith and the Evidence of Salvation
