Barns, Money, and Death

Kingdom Values

Living in the Kingdom means giving towards things that matter

The Kingdom of God is His eternal, spiritual ruling authority over everything

Luke 12:15 – And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions

Luke 12:16-19 – And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

We have the tendency to think we possess our stuff, but many times our stuff is possessing us

Luke 12:19 – And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’

We think that money is our answer to security

When God is first, we have enough

Malachi 3:10 – Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

We have enough, because He is enough

God is calling us to live appropriately, save wisely, and give generously

Luke 12:20-21 – But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
