Healthy spirituality requires us to: Listen to, but not be by our emotions. Change what we to change feelings and actions. Heal our to reduce the emotional pressure. Applying God's Word to Life What has brought you joy in the last week? When have you felt loved? When have your emotions gotten the best of you and brought you pain? What emotion brings you the most temptation or challenges? Why? What could be damaged or lost if you are not able to keep your emotions under control? Give biblical examples where out of control emotions lead someone astray. What consequences might you experience if you decide to deny or stuff your feelings? How likely are you to succeed at changing your actions and words by relying on behavior modification techniques and putting a filter on? Give an example of a belief, expectation, or desire that needs to be changed in order to change how you feel, think, and act? When have you been surprised by an over-reaction from yourself or someone you love? What does that indicate? What do you sense the Lord is telling you about your emotions today? What might the Lord have you do or think differently in order to win this fight to keep your emotions in check in this season of your life?
