Grace that Saves the World

Titus 2:11-3:8; Matthew 22:37-40

By Pastor Kelly Mahoney, August 02, 2026

Saving grace:

1) us from ourselves.

2) us to transform us.
3) us to serve others.

EFCA SOF Article 8– Christian Living: We believe that God's justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With God’s Word, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.

Applying God's Word to Life

  1. What is one of your favorite rescue stories? What makes it so great?
  2. Why is it important to remember that we are saved by God's mercy rather than our own good works? How does that protect us from both pride and discouragement?
  3. What is the difference between trying harder to be good and allowing God's grace to train and transform us?
  4. How does grace change the world in practical terms?
  5. Titus repeatedly speaks about “us,” "a people," and “His very own.” Why do you think God chooses to grow us in community instead of leaving us to grow alone?
  6. How have other believers helped shape your faith? How might you intentionally help someone else grow?
  7. If our church disappeared tomorrow, what would the Minnewaska area miss most?
  8. Where might God want to use you this week to help answer “our prayer” in a practical way—at home, at work, in your neighborhood, or at church?
