Do You Hear What I Hear

Said the night wind to the little lamb. Do you see what I see? Way up in the sky, little lamb. Do you see what I see? A star, a star, dancing in the night with a tail as big as a kite.

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy. Do you hear what I hear? Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy. Do you hear what I hear? A song, a song high above the trees with a voice as big as the sea.

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king. Do you know what I know? In your palace warm, mighty king. Do you know what I know? A Child, a Child shivers in the cold. Let us bring him silver and gold.

Said the king to the people everywhere. Listen to what I say! Pray for peace, people, everywhere. Listen to what I say! The Child, the Child sleeping in the night. He will bring us goodness and light.

(Isaiah 9:1-7 NLT) The time of darkness and despair will not go on forever…The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest…For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders…The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire…For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end.

Do you what sees?

(Genesis 6:5 NLT) The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.

(Isaiah 61:1 NLT) The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.

Do you what hears?

(Isaiah 61:2-3 NLT) He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come…To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.
