  • 7:1-24 Fulfillment of the Flood
  1. God's Word is Definite (Gen. 7:1-5)
  • God proclaims Noah’s righteousness
  • Specified instruction
  • Clean and not clean
  • Specific timeframes
  • Intended purpose
  • Complete obedience
  1. God’s Word Prevails (Gen.7:6-24)
  • Noah’s ancestral line
  • A cataclysmic event
  • God’s hand in His plan
  • Local or global flood?
  • Who prevailed?

God’s word declared and fulfilled:

Declared: Noah and his family will go onto the Ark (6:18; 7:1)

  • Fulfilled: Noah and his family went onto the Ark (7:7, 13)

Declared: The animals will come into the ark (6:19-20; 7:2)

Theological Conclusions:

  • The written word is specific and intentional. (Matt. 5:8; Luke 20:37-38)
  • The Living Word is specific and intentional. (Matt. 16:15-16; John 6:38)
  • The written word prevails. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
  • The Living Word prevails. (Phil. 2:9-11)

God’s word still yet to be fulfilled:

  • Final Sanctification (1 John 3:2)
  • The Resurrection (Rom. 6:5)
  • Christ’s Return (Heb. 9:28)
  • Judgment (Ecc. 12:14)

“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isa. 55:11)
