Genesis 20:1-2 The Setting and Scenario Genesis 20:3-8 God Confronts Abimelech God’s assessment of man’s conduct is what matters most—He determines what is right and wrong. Man’s conduct can be rightly assessed by God as deserving death regardless of man’s knowledge or intentions. The rightness or wrongness of man’s conduct is not firstly determined by what is known, but by what God has established as true. There can be related, yet different degrees of conduct that result in an escalation of the severity of consequences. God always conducts Himself justly and is even able to keep man from conducting himself more wrongly than he would on his own. Man is ultimately responsible in his conduct towards God and to hear God’s word and respond according to His will. Genesis 20:9-18 Abimelech Confronts Abraham Abraham Abimelech God Covenant
