Genesis 34:1-31 Outline - Jacob is back in the land of Canaan, but he and his family experience conflict with the city of Shechem and its inhabitants:

  • Gen. 34:1-12 Jacob’s daughter, Dinah, is defiled by Shechem, and Hamor initiates an offer after what his son had done
  • Gen. 34:13-24 Jacob’s sons convince Hamor and Shechem to accept their counter-offer, and Hamor and Shechem convince the city to go along with it
  • Gen. 34:25-31 Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, kill the men of the city, and Jacob is afraid because of what they’ve done
