Lift Him Up Matthew 21:1-11 Jesus’ triumphal entry was the beginning of the last week of His life. Before this moment, Jesus had not allowed the public to treat Him as the Messiah. Here in the twilight of His earthly life, He gave a public acknowledgement of His office as Messiah. In this moment, Jesus was being lifted up for all to see. Jesus is for people who will lift Him up. The Mission Started Small (vs.1-2) - Bring a donkey. It seems insignificant, but in actuality it had tremendous implications. * Many times the things God asks us to do end up becoming big things. Being faithful in the little things lifts up Jesus. The Two Disciples (v.1) - They are not named. We don’t know who they are. * God is interested in you being by Him, not necessarily you being known by everyone else. * When you’re to God, no else may ever know, but God will! Purpose of the mission (vs.2-3) - To fulfill a 500-year-old prophesy (vs. 4-5) * Jesus was on a donkey to demonstrate not only His over the natural world, but also to show how only He can a wild heart. * The donkey being used for Christ’s purpose. He didn’t buck and protest when Jesus went to ride him into the city. * This donkey wasn’t anything that the world would deem special. His was to make Jesus visible to the crowd. Out of the 500-year-old prophesy come people reciting a 1000-year-old Psalm (vs. 8-9; Psalm 118:25-26) Lift Him Up by your – the donkey walked forward in his role, fulfilling his purpose of getting Jesus closer to the cross on that Friday. Walk in the Spirit, walking forward in the role God has called you to. Lift Him Up by your – you may feel that you cannot speak, it’s impossible to share about Christ. But Balaam’s donkey spoke. It’s Impossible but it happened. All things are possible. You can be God’s mouthpiece, God’s witness. Don’t buck, protest or give reasons. Be yielded and willing for God to use you.
