The Last Four Things: Judgement

Week 2

Big Idea of the Series: This four-week series helps us understand what the Bible says about the end of life and what follows after death. We will finish the series confident that God is just and has good plans for those who love Him.

Psalms 7:10-13 NLT God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right.God is an honest judge. He is angry with the wicked every day.If a person does not repent, God will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow.He will prepare his deadly weapons and shoot his flaming arrows.

Job 9:32-35 NLT “God is not a mortal like me, so I cannot argue with him or take him to trial. If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live in terror of his punishment. Then I could speak to him without fear, but I cannot do that in my own strength.

Isaiah 53:6 NLT All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.

John 3:16 NLT “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 2:2 NLT He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

1 John 4:9-10 NLT God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

John 5:22-24 NLT In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judgeso that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him.“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.

John 5:25-30 NLT “And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life-giving power to his Son.And he has given him authority to judge everyone because he is the Son of Man.Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Sonand they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.

Revelation 20:11-13 NLT And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide.I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.
