Are You Hungry Yet?

Stir Up Hunger

Scripture Anchor Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Big Idea: The world stirs our anxiety, but the Holy Spirit stirs our souls toward peace, power, and the presence of God. True spiritual hunger is awakened when we quiet the noise and allow God’s Spirit to move within us.

#1: Storms Stir Up Hunger

Psalm 46:1–3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble… Selah.”

A.Life’s storms awaken something deep in our souls

B.Selah = pause, reflect, lift up your heart.

C.Spiritual hunger begins when we stop striving and let God move.

Reflection Questions:

What storms or challenges in your life are stirring hunger for God right now?

How can you “pause” (Selah) to let God speak to you in the middle of chaos?

“The world may shake, the waters may roar, but my soul will be still because His Spirit stirs within me.”

#2: Storms Produce Harvest

Psalm 46:4–7; Psalm 30:5

“There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God… Selah.

A.Storms break the hard ground of our hearts.

B.Hunger drives us to the river — the source of living water.

C.Even when the world rages, God’s presence brings stability and growth.

Reflection Questions:

Where do you see God’s presence providing stability in your life?

What harvest (growth, fruit, insight) has God produced from past storms in your life?

“The world may shake, the waters may roar, but our souls are hungry for the river of God because His Spirit stirs within us.”

#3: Hunger Brings Overflow

John 7:37–38

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink… out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

A.Stillness leads to saturation — when we let God fill our hungry hearts.

B.Overflow = Spirit spilling out into worship, compassion, and witness.

C.The river that fills us flows through us to bless others.

Reflection Questions:

How can you let the Spirit’s overflow touch someone else this week?

What practical step can you take to respond to God’s stirring in your heart today?

“The storm stirred me, the Spirit filled me, now the river flows through me.”

Closing Reflection

1.Ask God to stir hunger in your heart this week.

2.Consider what “storm” experiences have prepared you for a spiritual harvest.

3.Pray and invite the Spirit to overflow through your life into your family, community, and church.
