Stewardship of Time

5 T's

By Lead Pastor Matt, January 04, 2026

Big Idea

Time is not something we spend; it is something God entrusts to us.

God is the owner; we are the managers.

The 5 T’s of Stewardship

  • Time
  • Talent
  • Testimony
  • Temple
  • Treasure

We begin with time as the foundation of stewardship.

#1 – God Created Time

God’s name Elohim means God the Creator.

Time did not exist before God—God created time.

Space, time, and matter were created together (Genesis 1:1).

God is not limited by time; He stands outside of it.

Key Scriptures:

  • Genesis 1:1
  • Psalm 19:1
  • Psalm 90:12

Key Truth: Time is not accidental or disposable; every moment comes from God and matters for eternity.

#2 – Understanding Time Takes Wisdom

Ephesians 5:15–16

  • Time keeps moving whether we are ready or not.
  • Time itself is neutral; wisdom determines how it is used.
  • Time rewards wisdom, not awareness.
**Wisdom Reminds Us:**
  • Life is burning down, not building up.
  • Opportunity shrinks when ignored.
  • Delay always has a cost.
**Time Is Limited and Valuable:**
  • Life is a mist (James 4:14).
  • Time is often leaked slowly, not wasted suddenly.
**Common Time Leaks:**
  • Social media and passive consumption
  • Comparison and pressure
  • Constant notifications and multitasking
  • Binge-watching and streaming

#3 – Stewardship of Time Puts the Kingdom at the Center

Our calendars reveal our priorities. Stewardship is not doing more—it is aligning correctly.

  • God does not remove responsibilities; He puts them in order.

Key Scripture: Matthew 6:33–34

Stewardship of time puts the Kingdom at the center.

#4 – God Can Redeem Time

Only the Creator can redeem what we cannot recover.

God redeems time by restoring purpose, direction, and fruit.

When Time Is Redeemed:

Purpose is restored — Kingdom impact

Direction is restored — daily obedience

Fruit is restored — lasting and generational impact

Biblical Foundation:

  • Joel 2:25
  • Genesis 3 (The Fall and the beginning of redemption)

Key Truth:

Redemption does not erase consequences, but it restores eternity.

Redemption begins with surrender.

Closing Truth: You may not be able to recover yesterday, but you can redeem today.
