The danger is not that the spiritual realm isn’t real. The danger is living as if it isn’t. 2 Kings 6:15–17 (ESV) 15 When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” 16 He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. • The Unseen Realm Is Real and Active Daniel 10:12–13 (ESV) 12 Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. 13 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, Joshua 5:13–15 (ESV) 13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” 14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” 15 And the commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. Awareness of the unseen realm produces reverence. 2 Kings 19:35 (ESV) 35 And that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies. Colossians 1:15–17 (ESV) 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. The unseen realm is not fantasy it is foundational. Ephesians 6:10–11 (ESV) 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.** • Angels and Demons Are Real, Personal, and Active Hebrews 1:14 (NLT) 14 Therefore, angels are only servants, spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation. 1. Angels are created beings, not eternal like God. (Colossians 1:16) 2. Angels are spirits – immaterial, yet real and personal (Luke 15:10) 3. Angels are sent – they operate under God’s sovereign authority (Daniel 10:12–13). 4. Angels minister – actively serving believers and advancing God’s purposes (Acts 12:7–11). 5. Angels are numerous and organized – often described in ranks and armies (Luke 2:13; Revelation 5:11). 6. Demons, by contrast, are real, personal, and active in opposition, seeking to deceive (John 8:44), accuse (Revelation 12:10), and destroy (1 Peter 5:8)—but always within limits set by God. Dualism says two equal powers are fighting The Bible says God has no rival. Heaven’s activity doesn’t depend on our visibility. 1 John 4:4 (ESV) 4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. • Not everything that feels right or innocent is from God Spiritual discernment is needed to decide. 2 Corinthians 11:13–15 (ESV) 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. Matthew 24:23–24 (ESV) 23 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 2 John 7 (ESV) 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. Does the truth I am believing come solely from God because anything that replaces God as the source of truth will eventually lead us away from Him. 1 Timothy 4:1 (ESV) 4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons
