5-Day Devotional – Acts 9:32–43

Day 1: Eyes to See Like Jesus

📖 Reading: Acts 9:32–35

💬 Quote: “The rabbi-disciple relationship means that the disciples are learning to do everything their rabbi does. ”

🧠 Reflection: When Peter heals Aeneas, he echoes the exact way Jesus healed the paralyzed man. Peter didn’t perform a magic act—he simply followed what his Lord had taught. In Christ, he had learned to see suffering not as something to avoid, but as an opportunity to embody God’s healing power. The disciple becomes like the teacher.

  • How might Jesus be teaching you to see others with compassion?
  • In what ways have you seen Jesus at work through ordinary people?

Day 2: God Is Not Done With You

📖 Reading: Acts 9:36–41

💬 Quote: “Maybe you have felt like it’s too late, your moment has passed. Hear this: God is not done with you yet.”

🧠 Reflection: Tabitha had already lived a life of generosity and service. And yet, when she dies, God brings her back—because there’s more to her story. This reminds us that we are never “used up” in God’s kingdom. God still has a purpose for your life.

  • Have you ever felt like your moment to be used by God had passed?
  • What does it mean for you that God still has work for you to do?

Day 3: Becoming Like the Rabbi

📖 Reading: John 14:12

💬 Quote: “The one who believes in me will also do the works that I do—and, in fact, will do greater works than these.”

🧠 Reflection: Jesus didn’t just call people to believe him—he called them to follow him so closely that they would live as he lived. Peter had spent years watching Jesus, imitating him, practicing compassion. Through Peter's profound transformation, we see the power of the Holy Spirit to work in our own lives. Through Jesus, God is working to form us every day.

  • Are there habits in Jesus' life that you want to imitate more closely?
  • What “greater works” might God be calling you into this season?

Day 4: The Spirit Is Already Ahead

📖 Reading: Acts 9:42–43

💬 Quote: “The last verse is loaded with hints: “He stayed in Joppa for some time with a certain Simon, a tanner.”

🧠 Reflection: The Spirit is never content with the status quo. Every step in Acts pushes boundaries wider. Peter stays in the home of an unclean tanner—someone he likely would have avoided before. But he stays. He listens. He prays. And because of that, he’s ready for what God does next.

  • Where is the Spirit stretching your comfort zone right now?
  • Is there someone “unexpected” God might be calling you to stay with or learn from?

Day 5: When You Feel Stuck

📖 Reading: Isaiah 43:18–19

💬 Quote: “If we want to see the transformative power of God, we have to let God transform how we see.”

🧠 Reflection: Peter was not done learning what it meant to follow Jesus. He still had to learn the boundless inclusion of God's kingdom, and what God was able to do through him. Sometimes when we feel stuck, what we really need is a change of perspective. God is doing a new thing—do you perceive it?

  • Where have you seen God working in a way you didn’t expect?
  • What might it look like to open your eyes to something new this week?
  • What change of perspective is God challenging you with right now?
