5-Day Devotional – Acts 18:1–11

Day 1 – God Works Through Ordinary Work

📖Scripture: Acts 18:1–3
“Because he was of the same trade he stayed with them, and they worked together—by trade they were tentmakers.”

📝Reflection:
Paul met Aquila and Priscilla not in a synagogue or mission field, but in the workplace. God often shows up in the ordinary places of our lives—in the shop, office, or home—just as much as in worship. Your daily labor is not separate from your faith; it is an arena where God builds relationships and extends God's mission.

Questions:
- How do you see your work as part of God’s mission?
- Who are the “Priscillas and Aquilas” God has placed alongside you?

Day 2 – Bold Witness in the Face of Opposition

📖Scripture: Acts 18:4–6
“When they opposed and reviled him, in protest he shook the dust from his clothes and said to them, ‘Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.’”

📝Reflection:
Paul was faithful in sharing the gospel, even when many resisted. He wasn’t responsible for people’s responses—only for being faithful to the call. Sometimes we hesitate to share our faith for fear of rejection, but God asks for courage and trust, not control of the outcome.

Questions:
- Where do you feel hesitancy about sharing your faith?
- How can you let go of outcomes and simply be willing when God invite you to share?

Day 3 – Encouragement in Community

📖Scripture: Acts 18:7–8
“Crispus, the official of the synagogue, became a believer in the Lord, together with all his household; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul became believers and were baptized.”

📝Reflection:
In the midst of pushback, Paul also experienced great encouragement as people responded to the Gospel. Ministry always includes both rejection and joy. God often provides companions and unexpected outcomes to keep us going when we’re weary.

Questions:
- Who has encouraged your faith when you felt discouraged?
- How can you be that encouragement for someone else this week?

Day 4 – God’s Word of Assurance

📖Scripture: Acts 18:9–10
“Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent; for I am with you, and no one will lay a hand on you to harm you, for there are many in this city who are my people.”

📝Reflection:
God gave Paul a vision at just the right moment, reminding him: You are not alone. Keep going. We need that same reminder. Whatever city, workplace, or community you’re in, God is already working in the hearts of “many people” there.

Questions:
- As you pray today, what word of assurance is God speaking to you?
- Today, look around and notice the ways in which you are not alone. Who else has God placed in your life to walk with you in your faith journey?

Day 5 – The Power of Persistence

📖Scripture: Acts 18:11
“He stayed there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.”

📝Reflection:
Faithfulness isn’t only about bold moments—it’s about the long haul. Paul remained in Corinth for 18 months, patiently teaching and forming a new kind of community. Transformation often happens not in quick bursts but through long obedience in the same direction.

Questions:
- Where is God asking you to “stay” and lean in to realtionships?
- How can you cultivate perseverance and persistence in your discipleship?
