Day 1 — Be Strong and Courageous Joshua 1:1–9
📖 Scripture: Joshua 1:1–9
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua faced an impossible task—leading God’s people into a new land without Moses by his side. Yet God’s promise was clear: courage doesn’t come from strength alone, but from the assurance of God's presence.
- Where in your life do you need to hear these words again: “Do not be afraid”? Close your eyes. Breathe deep. Here Jesus say to you now: "Do not be afraid. I am with you."
- What does courage look like when you know God goes with you?
Practice: Write down one fear you’re facing. Pray over it using Joshua 1:9, and carry that verse with you today.
Day 2 — Courage in Love 1 John 4:18
📖 Scripture: 1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.”
Fear shrinks our world, but love expands it. Courage grows not by willpower but through love. When we love our neighbors as ourselves, even those we fear, it changes our perspective. Our hearts begin to see them with compassion, disolving our fear. When we rest in God’s perfect love, we can risk compassion, truth, and hope.
- How has fear limited your love for others? What is one person, group, or situation where God is inviting you to see with the eyes of Jesus?
- Where might God be calling you to let love lead instead of fear?
Practice: Choose one fearful thought and replace it with a loving action.
Day 3 — Do Not Fear, You Are Mine Isaiah 43:1–2
📖 Scripture: Isaiah 43:1–2
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.”
God’s courage-creating love begins with belonging. When you know who you are and whose you are, fear loses its grip. Courage flows from the deep truth that you are God’s—seen, known, and loved. God gives us the gift of community, a tangible place to experience the belonging we have in Jesus.
- What part of your life needs to remember: “You are mine”?
- Where is someplace you have been hiding a part of yourself to fit in? What is one way, one place you can be authenticly you this week? Trust you belong because you are you.
- How has God redeemed a fearful situation in your past?
Day 4 — Courage in the Face of Opposition Matthew 27:11–26
📖 Scripture: Matthew 27:11–26
“Jesus stood silent before Pilate not out of weakness but out of strength.”
Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it stands still, trusting God when words or actions won’t fix the moment. Jesus’ quiet courage before Pilate teaches us that strength and peace can coexist even in suffering.
- When have you needed courage to stay calm or silent instead of reacting?
- Where is one place God calling you to embody the non-violent way of Jesus this week in words, actions, or thoughts?
- How does Jesus’ example reshape your idea of strength?
Day 5 — Cast Your Fear on God 1 Peter 5:7–9a
📖 Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7–9a; John 14:27; Luke 12:32
“Cast all your anxiety on him, because He cares for you.”
Courage begins when fear is surrendered. We aren’t asked to carry fear alone but to hand it to the one who holds us. Faithful courage means trusting that God cares for us deeply and stands guard over our hearts.
- What fear or anxiety do you need to cast on God this week?
- How does trusting in God's care free you to act in faith and be free of fear?
Practice: Take five minutes in prayer today to release your fears to God by name.
