What Are the Different Spiritual Gifts?

The Big Idea
You are not expected to have every spiritual gift. The Spirit gives different gifts to different people so that together we can participate in God's work.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE?
Wisdom. Knowledge. Faith. Healing. Powerful deeds. Prophecy. Discernment. Tongues. Interpretation.
What Might These Gifts Look Like Today?
Healing
Bringing restoration—physical, emotional, mental, relational, or spiritual.
Prophecy
Asking important questions, speaking truth, confronting injustice, and helping God's people see the bigger picture of God's kingdom.
Tongues & Interpretation
Helping people understand one another, especially when language, experience, or disagreement creates barriers.
Powerful Deeds
Bold, compassionate, Spirit-led action in service to love our neighbors.
Wisdom
Sorting through information, perspectives, and possibilities to seek what is best for people and the community.
Knowledge
Learning, studying, analyzing, and discovering new insight about Scripture and faith.
Discernment
Seeking God's will and recognizing gifts and possibilities in others.
Faith
Trusting the Spirit's leading even when the path ahead is not yet clear.
Look to Jesus
Jesus' ministry gives us pictures of these gifts in action: healing, wisdom, knowledge, discernment, courageous truth-telling, faithful trust, and communicating God's love across barriers.

You Don't Do This Alone
The Body of Christ is filled with people who have different gifts.
We learn together.
We serve together.
We support one another.
We depend on the Spirit together.
The Spirit Is Still Active
“God didn’t just drop these gifts in us through the Spirit and then ride off into the sunset!”
The Spirit remains active in and through God's people, giving what is needed for sharing God's love with the world.
