KEY QUESTIONS
How is God calling me to use my spiritual gifts in my daily life?
How is God calling me to use my spiritual gifts in my church?
How would my life—and my heart—be different if I used these gifts to the full?
Scripture
1 Corinthians 13
John 15:4–17
“We can have incredible gifts, but if we miss the single most important gift, Love, we miss the whole point.”
1 Corinthians 13 Is About Spiritual Gifts
Paul writes to a church overflowing with gifts—and struggling with comparison, competition, and envy.
Tongues. Prophecy. Knowledge. Faith. Generosity.
Without love, even extraordinary gifts miss their purpose.
“I am the vine. You are the branches.”
Jesus gives us another picture of our connection to God and to one another.
We are called to bear fruit.
To use the gifts God has given us to participate in God's work in the world.
How Do We Bear Fruit?
1. Abide in Jesus.
Receive the unconditional, unending love of Christ.
2. Use the gifts God gives you.
Let that love flow through your gifts into the lives of others.
Abide in Love
Jesus says:
“Love one another as I have loved you.”
First we receive the love of Jesus.
Then we love as he loves. We love who he loves. We serve who he serves.
YOUR GIFTS + GOD'S PURPOSE + THE WORLD'S NEEDS
= JOY
“There is no greater joy than when your gifts meet God’s purpose and the world’s needs.”
You Are Chosen
“You did not choose me. I chose you.”
Sometimes we are afraid.
Sometimes we feel unqualified.
Sometimes God calls us beyond our comfort zone.
Jesus chose you and gifted you to bear fruit.
CONNECTED
One Body.
Branches on one vine.
Different people and different gifts connected through Christ.
We need one another.
YOU ARE LOVED.
YOU ARE CHOSEN.
YOU ARE GIFTED BY THE SPIRIT.
“Let’s fill the wall with the gifts of God.
Let’s fill the world with the love of God.”
