A Church That Reaches Shares the Gospel Boldly Acts 11:19 “Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch they were speaking the word to no one except Jews.” Acts 11:20 “But there were some of them...who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus.” Acts 11:21 “And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord.” A Church That Reaches Builds People Acts 11:22 “The report of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch." People don't just need to hear the gospel. They need to grow in the gospel. Acts 11:23 “When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose." The Christian life is a lifetime of remaining faithful to the Lord. Acts 11:24 “For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith.” Acts 11:26-26 “So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul. and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.” A Church That Reaches Lives Generously Acts 11:27-28 “Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world (this took place in the days of Claudius).” Acts 11:29 “So the disciples determined, every one according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers living in Judea.” Luke 21:1-4 “Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”” Mature believers don't ask, “What can the church do for me?” They ask, “How can the Holy Spirit lead me in reaching and building others?” Acts 11:30 “And they did so, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.”
