By Nate Young, June 21, 2026

Even the faithful mission-minded Christians can find themselves in conflict with one another

BiG Idea: Believers aren’t called to pursue and , they’re called to pursue Jesus

Philippians 4:2–3 2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to agree in the Lord. 3 Yes, I also ask you, true partner, to help these women who have contended for the gospel at my side, along with Clement and the rest of my coworkers whose names are in the book of life.

Loving God’s People isn’t .

Sanctification is a community project - Sinclair Ferguson

The Gospel is individual and also .

Romans 12:5 5 in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.

Philippians 4:4 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Habakkuk 3:17–19 17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls, 18 yet I will celebrate in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! 19 The LORD my Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights!

When Jesus is , I don’t have to take things into my own hands

Philippians 4:5 5 Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.

Psalm 145:18–19 18 The LORD is near all who call out to him, all who call out to him with integrity. 19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry for help and saves them.

Philippians 4:6 6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Matthew 6:25 25 “Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:33 33 But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.

Prayer isn’t just what we do when we feel locked , it’s what we do when we’re Locked .

Philippians 4:7 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 26:3 3 You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you.

Philippians 4:8 8 Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things.

Romans 12:1–2 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Proverbs 4:23 23 Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.

The ultimate freedom we have as human beings is the power to select what we will allow or require our minds to dwell upon. - Dallas Willard

The more I intentionally my mind with what comes from Jesus, the more likely I am to point others to Him

Philippians 4:9 9 Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

2 Corinthians 13:11 11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice. Become mature, be encouraged, be of the same mind, be at peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

Challenge for the week:

  • Where do you need to “agree in the Lord”?
  • Where is the Spirit calling you to help, reconcile, and pray (rather than worry)?
